The Safari Park is the San Diego Zoo’s sister park located about 35 miles to the northeast in Escondido from the main San Diego Zoo park. About 20 times the size of the San Diego Zoo. home to more than 3,600 animals representing over 300 species. Notably it’s home to the largest collection of hoofed mammals in the world. This park is about seeing the animals in their natural habitat and taking part in safari experiences. Until 2010 this park used to be called the “Wild Animal Park” but they changed the name to emphasize the the park's spacious enclosures of free-ranging animals. Plan to spend at least 4 hours here. You could easily spend 2 days if you really want to dive deep.
